Packing List

Because you will be at the Gardens Wellness Center for an extended period, it is essential that you pack appropriately for what lies ahead. In preparation for your visit, we have a list of suggested items to bring that will make your stay with us as comfortable and stress-free as possible. This will allow you to focus your energy on the process of recovery to produce a better outcome overall while you are with us.

Our Location

Keep South Florida weather in mind when packing. It is very hot during the summer, and light cotton clothing tends to be most appropriate during this time of year. Winter months do cool down somewhat, but the temperatures are still moderate, so heavy winter clothing should not be necessary any time of year. A light jacket is useful any time of year to wear in air-conditioned spaces and during the evenings when the temperatures drop somewhat.

What to Bring

Items to pack include:

  • Modest sleepwear and a bathrobe
  • Undergarments
  • Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing for everyday use
  • Clothing to wear during exercise sessions
  • Sneakers and other comfortable shoes
  • Socks
  • Lightweight jacket
  • Personal appliances such as hair dryers, curling irons, toothbrushes
  • Alcohol-free personal toiletries (must be unopened)

Items that are not appropriate include those that contain a sexual or offensive nature and products that contain alcohol. These things will be confiscated upon admittance and not permitted into the facility. It is also a good idea to avoid bringing clothing that requires dry cleaning, as this service will not be available during your stay.

Please contact your admissions counselor before admission to ask for more detailed information about any items you are unsure about packing

Additional Items for Your Stay

There are a few additional items you want to bring along for your stay:

Money
Medications

Money

Unless you made a prior arrangement, payment for any insurance deductible or co-payments in the form of a personal check, credit card, cash or cashier’s check will be expected upon admission. If your payment was pre-paid, please bring information on the wire-transfer or transaction before your admission so we are sure to document the payment appropriately.

You may also want to bring some addition funds to cover personal spending for incidental items such as cigarettes, snacks, etc. You may also be required by your insurance provider to pay additional co-payments or deductibles for medication needed during your treatment. We recommend that clients bring a credit card or funds in the amount of $500 to cover these charges should they arise.

Medications

Bring enough prescription medication to cover you during your travel plus one extra day. We are not authorized by state regulatory agencies to manage your current medicines. Medication prescribed by our staff physicians will be distributed through our pharmacy. We will attempt to bill your insurance company for these medications as long as you have a prescription plan.

We advise our clients not to order new medications or refill any medicines before traveling, as insurance companies limit refills for 30 days. Refilling or ordering new prescriptions before traveling or within 30 days of your trip could restrict your new medication claim and you may be responsible for payment out of your own pocket.

What to Leave Behind

There are a few items we deem inappropriate or unnecessary to bring along for treatment, including;

  • Inappropriate clothing, including garments referencing alcohol, drugs or offensive phrases
  • Excessively tight-fitting, sheer or revealing clothing, including micro-skirts and short shorts
  • Items exceeding a value of $300
  • Jewelry of any kind
  • Any product or item that contains alcohol
  • Nail polish, nail polish remover or nail glue
  • Weight loss pills, energy pills or caffeine products
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Weapons of any kind, including pocket or utility knives
  • Clothing that requires dry cleaning

To provide the highest level of safety to our clients and to prevent loss or theft while you are with us, we will keep the following items in a secured area that you will be able to access as needed:

  • Cash
  • Credit and bank cards
  • Checkbooks
  • Items that exceed $100 in value
  • Passports
  • Laptops
  • Cell phones

All these items will be issued back to the client upon discharge.

We know that taking that first step into detox and addiction treatment is the hardest and we are ready to make the process as stress-free as possible. If you have additional questions about what to pack in anticipation of your stay with us, contact The Gardens Wellness Center at 844-325-9168.
